Abstract:
USACE-SWD Methods
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, Southwest Division (USACE-SWD) uses predefined RPL functions and object methods to model flood control, conservation pool operations, and hydropower releases. RiverWare was recently enhanced to better model dam safety operations in which the pool elevation cannot exceed certain levels for certain periods of time. In addition, RiverWare was enhanced to allow for post-run dispatching to better model forecasting and lags at the end of the run. Also, a method was added to allow the operating level relationship to change at specific times in the run based on the hydrology. Finally, a diagnostic and debugging tool was added to the run analysis tool to show intermediate and final results of the USACE-SWD methods.
Accounting
RiverWare's accounting network is used to model water ownership, water type, and the allocation of water rights. One significant recent enhancement to the accounting system is the ability to specify the timing of Object Level Accounting Method execution. These methods are used to connect the physical system to the accounting system. Methods can now be executed at the beginning of the run, once at the beginning of each timestep, at beginning of each timestep with re-execution, and after simulation. This enhancement allows for flexibility when using rulebased simulation and accounting. In addition, the accounting canvas was re-implemented which provides more functionality and improved display of account and supply names and attributes. Finally, a utility was added to allow the user to specify the default format of supply names and apply them to existing supplies. |
