 Abstract

Using RiverSMART to Simulate Multiple Alternatives as Part of the Glen Canyon Dam Long-term Experimental and Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement
Alan Butler – BOR—Lower Colorado Region; Katrina Grantz & Jim Prairie – BOR—Upper Colorado Region
The Glen Canyon Dam Long-term Experimental and Management Plan (LTEMP) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is evaluating dam operations as part of an EIS that will provide a framework for adaptively managing Glen Canyon Dam over the next 15 to 20 years. As part of the analysis, the Colorado River Simulation System (CRSS) was utilized to simulate different alternatives for the intra-annual operations of Glen Canyon Dam. The RiverWare Study Manager and Research Tool  (RiverSMART) tool facilitates the creation, execution and archiving of planning studies that compare the results of several scenarios, all steps one must manually take when using RiverWare to simulate multiple scenarios. RiverSMART also provides several ways to automate the post-processing of these multiple scenarios. This talk will demonstrate some of the RiverSMART features that were utilized for modeling to support the LTEMP EIS.
