ABSTRACT
The implicitly daily URGWOM ruleset was generalized so that the rules can drive operations at a daily or monthly timestep. This presentation describes the general approach taken to generalize the rule set and summarizes results for a daily and monthly timestep test case run. For the test case evaluated, the generalized rules do a good job of capturing salient reservoir behavior at a monthly timestep. Run times decrease by an order of magnitude from about 100 seconds per simulation year at a daily timestep to 10 seconds per simulation year at a monthly timestep, with data output dropping by around 30 times (average days per month). This gain in performance and drop in data management requirements with reasonable simulation of system behavior suggests that the monthly timestep capability of URGWOM will be a valuable feature for stochastic and screening level planning analyses.
