The Colorado River Basin Post-2026 Operations Exploration Tool: A Web-Based Modeling Interface and Interactive DMDU Analysis Tool
Rebecca Smith and Nathan Bonham—U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
ABSTRACT
Reclamation partnered with CADSWES and Virga Labs to develop a web-based application in support of the ongoing process to replace operational guidelines for Lake Powell and Lake Mead. The “Colorado River Basin Post-2026 Operations Exploration Tool” offers an interface with the Colorado River Simulation System (CRSS), the long-term policy model being used in the planning process, that allows users to design and explore Lake Powell and Lake Mead operational strategies and compare them through Decision Making under Deep Uncertainty (DMDU) analytical techniques. This talk presents the flexible modeling foundation of the tool and provides a brief demonstration of the analytical dashboards.
