The Newlands Project Planning Study (Study) was a Bureau of Reclamation project performed by MWH and Precision Water Resources Engineering. The Study was commissioned in response to the 2008 breach of the Truckee Canal. The purpose of the Study was to develop and analyze alternatives for meeting Newlands Project water rights both safely and reliably. The Truckee-Carson long-term RiverWare Planning model was utilized to evaluate the reliability of the study alternatives. An overview of the role of the RiverWare model will be presented along with select results from the Study. The overview will include the use of RiverWare’s “Data Management Interface” functionality as well as scripting to set up, run, and collect output from multiple model runs in “Batch Mode.”
